About the job:
This internship position is within the College Relations Department/Communications Unit. The Communications Intern will gain hands-on experience in a professional setting, receiving guidance from an experienced, professional team.
Classification: Casual/As-Needed
Intern Duration: Internship
Hourly Rate:
• Less than Associate’s degree/60 credits: $16.00/hr.
• Associate’s degree/60 credits: $17.00/hr.
• Bachelor’s degree/pursuing graduate degree: $18.00/hr.
Job Description:
The Communications Intern will be responsible for the following:
• Assist in planning and writing e-newsletters.
• Update organization website using WordPress with current events and relevant news, etc.
• Manage editorial and event calendars.
• Uses client stories from funded programs to develop articles that will be used in stakeholder communications.
• Write press releases for events and announcements.
• Conduct interviews to be used in marketing materials.
• Create content for internal and external audiences.
• Support the marketing and communications staff in creating collateral pieces.
• Attends and successfully completes specialized continuing education as appropriate for the position.
• Maintains strong grade performance in graduate program and sustains work performance at the College that is considered above satisfactory.
• Related duties, projects and initiatives as assigned.
Requirements:
• Be a currently enrolled student in an undergraduate or graduate program requiring practicum or internship hours.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and comfortable learning new systems.
• Prior office experience is preferred.
