Senior Relationship Manager | BMO Financial Group

What You’ll Actually Do
Manage Key Client Relationships: Serve as the primary point of contact for the bank’s high-value and strategic clients, building and maintaining strong, long-term relationships. Act as a strategic advisor on financial solutions and an escalation point for complex issues, employing strategic problem-solving to resolve conflicts and ensure exceptional service and partnership.
Drive New Business and Growth: Proactively develop new business by identifying and contacting prospects and existing clients. Execute cross-selling strategies for a comprehensive range of Bank products and services, including credit, trust/investment, and cash management, while consistently identifying share of wallet opportunities and leveraging analysis tools to nurture a portfolio that exceeds ROE thresholds.
Structure and Approve Complex Deals: Structure intricate financial deals and diligently secure required credit approvals, often involving collaboration with internal stakeholders and external partners to optimize revenue. This includes negotiating high-value transactions and thoroughly reviewing loan applications and cash management service agreements to ensure accuracy, completeness, and alignment with the bank’s stringent risk management standards.
Develop and Inform Market Strategies: Analyze comprehensive market trends, client industry developments, and competitive positioning to inform and refine client solution strategies. Develop and implement market strategies that align with business goals, effectively identifying key market segments and leveraging industry trends and insights (gained from industry forums and conferences) to drive business growth and expand the client base.
Ensure Compliance, Mitigate Risk, and Report: Uphold strict adherence to regulatory requirements, internal controls, and compliance policies across all facets of relationship management, actively mitigating risk and maintaining high service standards. Engage with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to align strategies, address client needs, and prepare insightful reports on team performance, client satisfaction, and market trends for senior executives.

The Must-Haves
• Background: A Bachelor’s degree is required, with a preference for Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting, to support deep knowledge and technical proficiency gained through extensive education and business experience.
• Experience: At least 7 years of relevant experience in Relationship Management, Account Management, or Portfolio Management within a corporate or similar segmented banking environment, ideally with demonstrated sales metrics.
• Skills: Financial Analysis, Structuring Deals, Portfolio Management, Credit Risk Assessment, Regulatory Compliance.
• Bonus: Credit Qualifications and associated credit knowledge and skills, aligned with credit portfolio requirements and qualification standards, if the role is credit qualifiable.
