Job Description: Co-Op Student- Gas Storage Engineering

The Co-Op Student- Gas Storage Engineering position is offered by PGL, a subsidiary of WEC Energy Group, and is located in Fisher, Illinois. The student will report directly to the Engineering Manager.

This is a full-time co-op opportunity that will commence in May 2026 and continue through the summer and fall semesters. The hourly compensation for this role is $22.00, inclusive of paid company holidays. The overall pay range for this position extends up to $26.24, with the starting rate typically based on various factors like education, qualifications, and experience.

Job Summary:
WEC Energy Group employs students for various opportunities to contribute to the design of creative, cost-effective systems and equipment crucial for maintaining a safe and reliable energy flow to customers. This co-op provides students currently enrolled in a four-year degree program with hands-on engineering experience, working alongside experienced functional team members.

Job Responsibilities:
Interns and Co-Ops in this role will be assigned to support processes and equipment related to gas storage, including but not limited to:
Underground gas storage: Managing methane stored at 1750 psi, 4000 feet below the surface.
Field infrastructure: Working with field piping, valves, and gas storage wells.
Station operations: Supporting station piping, valves, regulators, meters, heat exchangers, and various processes.
Withdrawal process: Involvement with slug catchers, tri-ethylene glycol dehydrators, reboilers, and thermal oxidizers.
Injection process: Assisting with operations involving three 5000 hp natural gas powered compressors.
CO2 Removal process.
LNG Liquefaction process: Converting methane from gas to liquid at -260 degrees F.
LNG Vaporization process: Converting liquid LNG back into a gaseous state.

Minimum Qualifications:
Candidates must possess:
• A High School Diploma, GED, or HSED.
Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, Systems Engineering & Design, or Petroleum Engineering, or a closely related engineering field.
• A projected graduation date of July 2026 or later.
• A minimum GPA of 2.8.
• A valid driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications:
The following are considered advantageous:
• Prior Internship experience.
• Demonstrated Mechanical Aptitude.
• Experience in Mechanical Troubleshooting.
• Project experience related to Fluid or Thermal dynamics.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD.
