The Tone:
This is a Summer Intern position at Skechers, located in Manhattan Beach, CA. Skechers is a global Fortune 500 company that develops and markets a diverse range of lifestyle and performance footwear, apparel, and accessories to over 180 countries. This role offers hands-on exposure to the analysis, design, and support of Skechers’ cloud infrastructure and platform services, providing a practical opportunity to learn modern cloud practices, automation, and infrastructure management. You will collaborate with cloud engineers and platform teams, contributing to initiatives that enhance scalability, security, and operational efficiency across the organization.

What You’ll Actually Do
• IaC Development: Assist in developing and maintaining Infrastructure as Code using tools like Terraform and AWS CloudFormation.
• AWS Resource Management: Support the configuration and monitoring of AWS resources for performance and cost optimization.
• Security Analysis: Analyze AWS S3 bucket configurations and assist in validating security policies, permissions, and access controls.
• IAM Improvement: Help evaluate and improve IAM policies by supporting the transition to role-based access using services like STS.
• Reporting & Monitoring: Assist in building dashboards or reports to provide visibility into cloud usage, security posture, and operational metrics.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field. This role is for a motivated student or early-career technologist eager to learn modern cloud practices.
• Experience: Familiarity with AWS core services (EC2, S3, IAM, VPC) through coursework, labs, or personal projects. A foundational knowledge of networking concepts (DNS, TCP/IP, HTTP) is also required.
• Skills: Exposure to scripting or programming (Python, JavaScript, or similar). An understanding of basic security principles and identity/access management concepts. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting abilities.
• Bonus: Exposure to Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or AWS CloudFormation. Familiarity with version control systems like Git. Basic knowledge of containerization (Docker) or orchestration tools (ECS, Kubernetes). Experience with Linux or Windows environments. Awareness of CI/CD concepts and DevOps practices. Interest in cloud security, automation, and platform engineering, along with the ability to document technical processes and communicate clearly.
