Clinic Receptionist

Employment Type: Part-time

Shift: Day Shift

Hours: 24 hours/week

Summary

The Clinic Receptionist serves as the welcoming face for patients and visitors, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills and a professional demeanor. This role is crucial for managing front desk operations, which includes maintaining efficient patient flow, scheduling appointments, handling phone calls appropriately, and validating insurance eligibility. The receptionist is also responsible for accurately entering patient demographics, insurance information, and other pertinent data into the Electronic Health Record (EHR) and various other systems. A key aspect of the role involves determining and collecting time-of-service payments and/or past due balances at the time of appointment.

Job Duties

  • Knows, understands, incorporates, and demonstrates the Trinity Health Mission, Vision, and Values in behaviors, practices, and decisions.
  • Performs patient check-in at the time of visit, completing all necessary steps to ensure an efficient admitting process in compliance with clinic and regulatory policies.
  • Answers phone calls and directs them appropriately to the correct department or individual.
  • Schedules appointments according to established office guidelines and protocols.
  • Obtains accurate patient and insurance information, including collecting copays (TOS) and deductible amounts at the time of service.
  • Copies/scans patient access-related hardcopy materials (e.g., ID cards, referrals, insurance cards, etc.) into the correct location within the electronic medical record.

General Requirements

  • Must be comfortable operating in a collaborative, shared leadership environment.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for the Healthcare Provider certified or obtained within three (3) months of hire.
  • Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training specific to the population served within three (3) months of hire.
  • Requires the ability to read, write and understand the English language, and communicate effectively with patients, visitors, and colleagues while performing job duties.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must maintain a high degree of confidentiality when dealing with patient information.
  • Must possess a personal presence that is characterized by a sense of honesty, integrity, and caring with the ability to inspire and motivate others to promote the philosophy, mission, vision, goals, and values of Trinity Health.
