The Tone:
This is a part-time Clerk Hire position at Jefferson County, a government organization located in Port Townsend, WA. As a Bailiff, this role is essential for the seamless and efficient functioning of both the Superior and District Courts. The individual in this position plays a critical part in orchestrating jury activities and providing vital support to the Clerk during court sessions, directly contributing to the integrity and order of the judicial process. This role demands careful attention to detail and significant interaction with a diverse group of individuals within the legal system.

The TL;DR:
• Role: Clerk Hire-Bailiff
• Type: Part-time
• Location: In-person, Port Townsend, WA
• Pay: $18.00 hourly
• Team: Serves both Superior and District Courts; assists the Clerk.
• Mission: Ensure the smooth and efficient operation of court proceedings by managing and overseeing the movement of individual trial jury pools.

What You’ll Actually Do:
• Jury Coordination: Coordinate the jury for both Superior and District Court proceedings.
• Clerk Assistance: Assist the Clerk during court sessions to ensure smooth operations.
• Jury Pool Management: Manage and oversee the movement of individual trial jury pools.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Engage in significant interaction with defendants, judges, attorneys, corrections staff, and the general public within the Criminal Justice system.
• Workflow Oversight: Manage the workflow effectively within general guidelines and with minimal direct supervision.

The Must-Haves:
• Background: High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
• Experience: Two years’ experience working with the public in customer service, office, legal, or court environments; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Skills: Ability to perform each job duty to a satisfactory level; independent workflow management; effective interpersonal communication with various parties.
