Job Description

We are actively seeking a highly motivated and qualified Civil Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role offers opportunities within our construction, design, or a combination of both groups. About the Role

This position is designed for individuals eager to contribute to significant infrastructure projects, focusing on roadway design and construction oversight. We are hiring for in-office design-focused roles, in-field construction inspection roles, and/or a combination of both, providing flexibility based on your expertise and career aspirations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee roadway design and construction projects from inception to completion.
  • Provide oversight for projects directly in the field, ensuring compliance and quality.
  • Utilize civil engineering software, specifically AutoCAD Civil 3D, to prepare detailed design plans.
  • Perform various engineering calculations accurately and efficiently.
  • Support senior engineers with daily tasks across multiple disciplined projects.
  • Interact and communicate effectively with team members, clients, and other agencies.
  • Manage multiple deadlines and consistently produce high-quality work under tight schedules.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) designation or successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam prior to the start date.
  • A solid understanding of AASHTO and ASCE standards and policies.
  • Experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D software for calculating earthwork on construction projects. Academic experience is acceptable.
  • Must possess a valid Driver’s License and be able to provide own reliable transportation.
  • Ability to travel, which may include long drive times, overnight trips, and working in rural or urban areas.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the United States upon start of employment.
  • Availability for night work, weekends, and flexible scheduling is required.

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) and local agency procedures is considered a significant plus.

Physical Requirements

The role may require physical activity, including but not limited to:

  • Walking five (5) miles or more in a day on a construction project site, often on uneven terrain.
  • Excessive standing, lifting, or carrying a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Pushing and pulling equipment.
  • Proficient use of a keyboard.

Work Environment

  • Primarily in the field on construction project sites or site offices.
  • Occasional travel required for meetings, training, and events.
