Chemistry Lab Technician – Contract to Hire

Actalent is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Chemistry Lab Technician to join our team in Saint Paul, MN. This is an excellent opportunity for recent graduates or individuals looking to gain hands-on experience in a clinical laboratory setting, with comprehensive on-the-job training provided.

Job Description

As a Chemistry Lab Technician, you will receive extensive on-the-job training covering pre-analytical and post-analytical setup and testing of patient samples. Our lab specializes in a variety of testing, including therapeutic drug monitoring and drug screening analysis. You will primarily utilize immunoassay methodology, and some assays will require an extraction procedure prior to analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Specimen Management: Receive specimens for testing, meticulously evaluate specimens and test orders, and prioritize work and batches to ensure acceptable turn-around-times. Appropriately handle unacceptable and unusual specimens in accordance with laboratory protocols.
  • Laboratory Procedures: Adhere strictly to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) while performing extractions and analysis on client samples, quality control samples, and proficiency samples.
  • Reagent Preparation: Prepare laboratory reagents and standard solutions accurately, following established SOPs.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting: Evaluate raw and final data for accuracy, recognize and correct errors and unusual results, and interpret results to produce a final report, maintaining Good Documentation Practices (GDP) in all records.
  • Instrument Maintenance: Maintain, calibrate, and clean laboratory instrumentation. Perform scheduled/routine maintenance and critical function checks, and troubleshoot instruments as indicated to ensure optimal performance.
  • Quality Control and Record Keeping: Follow all quality control rules, diligently monitor controls for error detection, take appropriate corrective action when necessary, and maintain comprehensive laboratory records including maintenance logs, quality control logs, reagent and standard logs, and worksheets.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in a science-related field is required. Preferred fields include Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Medical Technology, or Clinical Laboratory Science.

Pay and Benefits

  • Pay Range: $21.00 – $24.15/hr
