Your Opportunity: Chemical Engineering Intern

Stantec’s multi-disciplinary office in Alpharetta, GA, is seeking a highly motivated Chemical Engineering Intern. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain real-world experience and apply classroom knowledge to complex challenges. Interns are integral to our teams, working alongside experienced practitioners, clients, and communities. This hands-on experience will provide practical skills, build your professional network, and set you up for future success.

Your Key Responsibilities

As a Chemical Engineering Intern within Stantec’s Water practice, you will contribute to our Industrial Water team, which serves a diverse range of industries including power, semiconductors, manufacturing, and food & beverage. Our holistic approach to water systems optimizes every facet from capture, use, reuse, treatment, to discharge. You will support projects that call for permitting, regulatory assistance, design, field support, and facility operations, helping clients increase water efficiency and protect resources through cost-effective strategies. Your specific responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting the local project delivery team with report and documentation preparation, project administration, and research.
  • Developing spreadsheet calculations to support engineering tasks.
  • Developing process engineering documents such as flow diagrams, piping & instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), engineering lists, process data sheets, and performance specifications.
  • Writing documents that summarize work performed and findings.
  • Meeting project schedule requirements.
  • Performing site inspections, construction observations, start-up and commissioning support, and preparing related reports.
  • Assisting with project permit applications, preparations, and processing.
  • Attending project meetings and assisting with meeting minutes.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials:

  • Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and process modeling software is a plus.
  • Highly motivated individual with a strong desire to learn and contribute.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Education and Experience:

  • Must be currently enrolled in an ABET-accredited bachelor’s or master’s Chemical Engineering program or a related field.
  • The role primarily involves a typical office environment, working with computers and remaining sedentary for extended periods.

Pay Transparency & Benefits

In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions where required, with final compensation based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. Certain roles at Stantec may also be bonus eligible. Compensation for part-time roles will be prorated based on agreed working hours.
