Job Description: Chemical Engineer Intern – Summer & Fall 2025
Parker Hannifin Corporation is seeking a Chemical Engineer Intern to join the Fluid Connectors Group Materials Development Team at their Ravenna, OH location for a Summer & Fall 2025 internship. The intern will contribute to improving existing materials and developing new materials for use in hose and tubing applications. The ideal candidate would be able to work full time from July 2025 – December 2025 as part of an engineering undergraduate co-op program.
Key Responsibilities:
• Actively participate as a member of the Materials Development Team.
• Learn to operate lab-scale mixing, extrusion, and molding equipment to create experimental materials and prepare them for property measurements.
• Learn to operate polymer compounding equipment for pilot-scale production of experimental materials.
• Learn and apply Design of Experiments (DOE) principles for material formulation and processing investigations.
• Learn to use mechanical, thermal, and chemical property testing equipment to generate data for new material development.
• Assist with pilot-scale tubing production for prototype hose builds using new materials.
• Participate in all functions of the High-Performance Team environment.
• Present project plans, data, and results to the Team and generate reports as necessary.
• Assist other Engineers with projects, tasks, and deadlines as needed.
• Conduct work safely at all times.
Qualifications:
• Must be pursuing an undergraduate degree in polymer science, polymer engineering, materials science, materials engineering, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a closely related field. Successful completion of two years of academic classwork is preferred. Graduate students pursuing an advanced degree in these engineering fields will also be considered.
• Excellent communication and scientific documentation skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to operate effectively in a team environment.
• Ability to interface effectively with related business and manufacturing functions.
• Travel: Position may require occasional travel to Parker facilities, local universities, and suppliers.
