Fall 2026 – Center for Industry Self-Regulation (CISR) Externship | BBB National Programs

The Tone:
This is an externship at BBB National Programs, located Hybrid in New York, NY or Remote. BBB National Programs is a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering a more accountable and trustworthy marketplace, serving as the home of U.S. independent industry self-regulation. This externship supports the Center for Industry Self-Regulation (CISR) in its mission to promote business accountability through legal research, policy analysis, and content creation, directly contributing to initiatives that impact businesses and consumers.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Analyze: Analyze commissioned research to extract key insights for educational materials, marketing, and social media content.
• Research: Conduct legal and policy research on industry self-regulation, identifying potential academic and research partners and supporting curriculum adoption initiatives.
• Develop: Research public policy issues relevant to CISR’s mission and develop educational content for the website and social media platforms.
• Monitor: Monitor current events, draft commentary on news items relevant to CISR’s work, and assist program and project managers with research.
• Participate: Participate in the planning and execution of CISR’s annual Soft Law Summit and contribute to the development of new self-regulatory initiatives.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently enrolled in a law school program, with an interest in industry self-regulation, administrative law, or business law.
• Experience: No specific prior experience required beyond academic standing.
• Skills: Strong research skills, strong writing skills, and strong analytical skills; ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Bonus: Experience with policy analysis or content creation.
