About Takeda Pharmaceuticals and the Cell Line Development Team:

Takeda’s mission is to deliver transformative medicines to patients worldwide. A critical component of this mission is the Cell Line Development (CLD) team, which is vital for advancing biologics manufacturing. This team focuses on creating and characterizing robust, high-yield cell lines, supporting discovery and development programs by engineering cellular platforms optimized for therapeutic protein production. Through strong collaboration with research, process development, and manufacturing groups, the CLD team ensures cutting-edge technologies are applied to generate safe, consistent, and scalable cell lines, underpinned by scientific rigor and innovation.

About the Role: Cell Line Development Intern

As a Cell Line Development Intern, you will acquire invaluable hands-on experience in molecular and cell biology. You will support projects directly contributing to Takeda’s biologics pipeline, working under the guidance of experienced scientists and actively participating in lab-based research and analysis.

How You Will Contribute (Key Responsibilities):

Under the manager’s supervision, duties will include:

  • Perform molecular cloning and vector design.
  • Prepare and validate vector constructs.
  • Conduct CHO cell culture and transfection experiments.
  • Draft and maintain experimental protocols and documentation.
  • Contribute to careful record keeping, data analysis, and presentation.

Job Requirements:

  • Location: Fully Onsite out of our Cambridge, MA office.
  • Education: Actively pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field.
  • Foundational Knowledge: Strong foundation in biology, chemistry, and/or biochemistry.

Internship Eligibility:

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a permanent basis without requiring sponsorship.
  • Must be currently enrolled in a degree program graduating December 2026 or later.
  • Duration: The internship program is 10-12 weeks, with two possible start dates:
    • May 26th – August 14th
    • June 15th – August 21st
  • The intern must be able to commit to one of these time frames.
  • Able to work full-time (40 hours a week) during internship dates.
  • Takeda does not provide a housing stipend or relocation support for the U.S. Summer Internship Program.

Takeda Compensation and Benefits Summary:

  • Location: USA – MA – Cambridge – Binney St.
  • U.S. Hourly Wage Range: $21.00 – $46.00.
  • The estimated hourly range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual hourly wage offered will depend on the candidate’s school year/level to be entered following completion of the internship. The actual hourly wage offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.
