Job Description
QTS’s summer internship program offers first-hand experience in the fast-paced data center industry. Interns participate in weekly lunch and learns, a comprehensive orientation program, and site-based activities, socials, and volunteering events. Each intern will be assigned initiatives tied to real QTS objectives, contributing to various aspects of the entire life-cycle of a data center build and/or company operations.
Role: Category Sourcing and Procurement Intern
The Category Sourcing and Procurement Intern will have a direct impact on analyzing, negotiating, and researching vendors, prices, and other data across several sourcing/supply chain categories.
Responsibilities may include:
• Providing analytical support during various stages of the procurement life-cycle.
• Running and designing reports related to demand/consumption forecasting as it pertains to vendor assignments and negotiations.
• Assisting with provider assessments.
• Performing comparative bid analysis.
• Collaborating with adjacent teams across the organization based on vendor engagement/agreement types.
Basic Qualifications:
• Actively pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Construction Management, Business Management, Economics, Mathematics, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly PowerPoint for presentations and Excel for data analysis and budgeting.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
• Must be a US Citizen.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Current full-time enrollment in one of QTS’s partner institutions (Auburn University, Kansas State University, Georgia State University, Southern Adventist University, Texas A&M University, University of Kansas) or a Blackstone Launchpad affiliate school.
• Previous internship or co-op experience in construction, data center, finance, technology, HR, facilities engineering, or related industries.
• Experience with data analysis tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
• Experience with programming languages like Python, Java, etc.
• Involvement in community activities outside of schoolwork (athletics, clubs, volunteering, part-time employment).
