The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Hitachi Energy, located remotely with a preference for the EST time zone. Hitachi Energy works on innovative energy technologies, and this position supports their most significant infrastructure projects within the CAPEX Construction and Facility area. This role is crucial for strategically leading sourcing processes, managing complex contracts, and mitigating risks to ensure efficient and compliant operations for these critical projects.

• Mission: Own and execute strategic sourcing and category management for large-scale CAPEX Construction and Facility projects to ensure efficient and compliant operations.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Strategy & Adaption: Lead and develop local category strategies for CAPEX Construction and Facility Management, adapting corporate contractual frameworks to local business needs.
• Sourcing Lifecycle: Manage the entire end-to-end strategic sourcing process, including RFP development, technical and commercial evaluation, negotiation, and contracting.
• Technical Collaboration: Engage in dialogue with technical teams to gain a deep understanding of project scopes, specifications, and associated risks.
• Supplier & Contract Management: Negotiate with specialized suppliers (contractors, technical services, FM) and manage all aspects of contracts, including terms and conditions, SLAs, and KPIs.
• Risk Management: Proactively evaluate and mitigate technical, contractual, financial, and Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) risks inherent in projects.

The Must-Haves
• Background: BA / BS in Supply Chain, Business Administration, Real Estate, Finance, or a related discipline, with a focus on understanding technical categories within capital projects like building services, process equipment, and construction.
• Experience: Over 5 years of experience in large-scale CAPEX Construction projects and Strategic Sourcing within a company, coupled with strong project management and execution skills. Possess a sense of ownership, pride, and the ability to see projects through to completion, alongside outstanding organizational skills to manage complex, simultaneous tasks in a matrix organization with minimal oversight.
• Skills: Proficiency in MS Office tools, specifically MS Project and MS Excel, and experience with SAP Ariba. Demonstrated strong mastery of the English language.
• Bonus: Prior experience with Hitachi Energy, solid knowledge of Hitachi Energy’s different supply chains and logistics structures, and superior negotiation skills in challenging intercultural and multi-business environments. Multi-lingual abilities (English plus Spanish, Portuguese, or French are strong assets) and an understanding of Hitachi Energy’s internal needs, goals, and sustainability objectives are highly valued. ISM Certification is also a nice-to-have.
