Buyer III | Applied Materials

This is a full-time role at Applied Materials, located in Bangalore, India. The equipment created and serviced here is essential to advancing AI and accelerating the commercialization of next-generation semiconductor chips. This Buyer III role is crucial for purchasing the materials, supplies, machinery, and services that equip our state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities, directly supporting the advancement of the world’s technology.

• Mission: This person ensures the continuous and cost-effective supply of essential materials and services to support manufacturing and advance semiconductor technology.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Supply Continuity: Ensure a continuous supply of materials to enable manufacturing with speed and quality, executing and managing pull-ins/push-outs with suppliers to meet MRP demand.
• Problem Resolution: Lead cross-functional teams to drive problem resolution for supply issues with key stakeholders such as engineering, manufacturing, Program Managers, and Supplier Account Management.
• Cost Optimization: Drive purchasing activities to execute purchases at the lowest cost, consistent with considerations of quality, reliability of source, and urgency of need.
• Inventory Management: Lead inventory and E&Z (excess & obsolete) reduction efforts within the purchasing function.
• Project Leadership: Manage and lead assigned Purchasing Projects, overseeing cost, schedule, and scope as required for successful execution.
• Stakeholder Communication: Manage complex and sensitive information effectively with both supplier leadership teams and internal stakeholders.
• Process Improvement: Contribute to purchasing process improvement within the team and act as a trainer for department purchasing activities.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Senior-level professional with a Bachelor’s degree, specializing in purchasing, supply chain management, or a related field.
• Experience: 4-10 years of experience in purchasing or procurement, including demonstrated ability to monitor inventory, manage delivery schedules, negotiate with suppliers, and procure essential items.
• Skills: Strong organizational skills, strategic planning, negotiation expertise, cross-functional problem resolution, and project management capabilities.
• Bonus: Strong knowledge of industry best practices, key business drivers, and competition in the marketplace, along with demonstrated leadership skills to lead small projects and build consensus.
