C or C++ Junior Developer | Amentum

The Tone:
This is an early career position at Amentum, located in Dahlgren, VA. Amentum focuses on software development and integration using C++ or C to support critical Naval projects. This role is vital for contributing to the modernization of the Navy, applying skills to the latest DoD weapons and sensor systems, and solving complex Digital Engineering challenges. The successful candidate will make a direct impact on mission success.

• Pay: $80000–$110000 yearly
• Team: Part of a growing systems & software engineering team, contributing to the Software Center of Excellence, and supporting a Senior Amentum developer.
• Mission: Develop C++ or C software to support Naval projects, specifically within the Submarine Launched Ballistic Missile (SLBM) weapon system, to modernize the Navy and contribute to mission success.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Develop: Conduct C++ and/or C software development for Naval projects, specifically within the Submarine Launched Ballistic Missile (SLBM) weapon system.
• Collaborate: Support a Senior Amentum developer in development efforts using Agile development principles.
• Analyze: Perform analysis and problem-solving techniques in support of professional scientific and engineering work.
• Contribute: Work independently and collaboratively within established teams and across organizations to meet established goals.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, physics, mathematics, engineering, or another applicable technical field, or equivalent experience.
• Experience: 0-5 years of experience; Must possess an Active SECRET US Government Clearance; Must maintain a valid Real ID driver’s license for customer site access and have access to reliable transportation for local worksite travel.
• Skills: Proficiency in C++ or C, familiarity with Agile Development, and effective communication skills.
• Bonus: Familiarity with QT or Motif.
