C/C++ Junior Developer | Amentum

The Tone:
This is an early career opportunity at Amentum, located on-site in Dahlgren, VA. Amentum supports critical software development and integration efforts for Naval projects, contributing to the modernization of the Navy’s latest DoD weapons and sensor systems. This role is vital for tackling complex Digital Engineering challenges within the Submarine Launched Ballistic Missile (SLBM) weapon system, making a significant impact on national defense. You will join a collaborative team focused on mission success within Amentum’s Software Center of Excellence.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Software Development: Support Naval projects/programs by conducting C++ and/or C software development for the Submarine Launched Ballistic Missile (SLBM) weapon system.
• Team Collaboration: Collaborate with and support a Senior Amentum developer using Agile development principles.
• Problem Solving: Apply analytical and problem-solving techniques to professional scientific/engineering work.
• Goal Achievement: Work both independently and collaboratively within established teams and across organizations to achieve project goals.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, Engineering, or another applicable technical field. Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Experience: 0-5 years of relevant experience. Must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET US Government Clearance, which requires US Citizenship. Candidates must also maintain a valid Real ID driver’s license and have access to reliable transportation for occasional local worksite travel.
• Skills: Proficiency in C++ or C programming languages, familiarity with Agile Development methodologies, and effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Bonus: Familiarity with QT or Motif.
