Business Systems & AI Solutions Intern | Leidos

The Tone:
This is an internship at Leidos, located remotely. Leidos is an industry and technology leader serving government and commercial customers with smarter, more efficient digital and mission innovations. This role is instrumental in providing end-to-end tools and systems support throughout the proposal lifecycle for the US Navy SMIT Growth Team. You will enhance internal tools, streamline workflows, and leverage AI to reuse historical proposal data and perform critical consistency checks, directly contributing to mission success.

The TL;DR

• Pay: $48100–$86950 yearly
• Team: SMIT Proposal Operations at Leidos, on the US Navy SMIT Growth Team
• Mission: Support the proposal lifecycle by enhancing tools, streamlining workflows, and applying AI for data reuse and consistency checks across technical and pricing outputs.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Excel, JavaScript, Visual Basic/VBA, Python, Salesforce, Power BI, SharePoint

What You’ll Actually Do
• Tools Enhancement: Enhance and integrate proposal tools by utilizing Microsoft Excel, automation, and AI technologies.
• Template Streamlining: Streamline program-specific Basis of Estimate (BOE) templates to better align with corporate standards.
• Tool Maintenance: Maintain and improve internally developed tools, primarily within Microsoft Excel.
• Data Analysis Support: Develop or support the creation of tools designed to analyze historical BOE data to identify similar or analogous tasks.
• Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with pricing, engineering, contracts, and capture teams to ensure proposed solutions are executable and deliverable.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business Analytics, Information Systems, or a related technical field.
• Experience: Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including proficiency with advanced formulas and macros; experience with programming languages such as JavaScript, Visual Basic/VBA, and/or Python.
• Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities; ability to multi-task and self-assign work; strong written and verbal communication skills; must be a US citizen able to obtain and/or maintain a Department of Defense Secret security clearance.
• Bonus: Experience with Basis of Estimate (BOE) development, proposal pricing, or government contracting environments; experience applying AI or generative AI tools to solve business or analytical problems; familiarity with Salesforce, Power BI, SharePoint, or similar platforms; experience working with automation tools, data repositories, or legacy systems; ability to remain upbeat and constructive under high-pressure deadlines.
