ArcBest is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Business Intelligence Intern to join our dynamic team. This temporary, hourly position offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a multibillion-dollar integrated logistics company that plays a crucial role in the global supply chain. As a BI Intern, you will be instrumental in creating descriptive analytical reports and dashboards that directly influence business decisions and strategic initiatives across all areas of ArcBest and its subsidiaries.

Job Summary

The Business Intelligence Intern will be responsible for developing and deploying robust BI solutions, translating complex data into actionable insights, and collaborating with various stakeholders to drive business performance. This role involves working on a diverse range of projects, providing exposure to different facets of the logistics industry and contributing to the optimization of supply chains.

Key Responsibilities

• Requirements Analysis & Design: Analyze user requirements, design functional specifications for BI solutions, and accurately estimate the effort required for project completion. Work closely with stakeholders to meticulously document user requirements for data, dashboards, and reports.
• Solution Development & Deployment: Design, develop, deploy, and meticulously document enterprise business intelligence solutions. This includes leveraging common data architecture principles and data optimization approaches to ensure efficient and scalable solutions.
• Testing & Performance Optimization: Rigorously test, troubleshoot, evaluate, and continuously improve the performance of all developed business intelligence artifacts to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
• Collaboration & Support: Collaborate effectively with and provide support to business analysts across the enterprise, sharing best practices in analytics strategies and techniques to foster a data-driven culture.
• Project Participation: Actively participate in special projects, contributing to cross-functional initiatives and gaining exposure to diverse business challenges.
• Continuous Learning: Proactively utilize all offered training opportunities, including assigned trainer guidance, self-study, and formal courses, to enhance skills and knowledge in business intelligence.
• Ad-hoc Duties: Perform other duties and projects as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability to evolving business needs.

Qualifications

Education

• Currently pursuing a degree in Analytics or a related field (e.g., Data Science, Business Administration with an Analytics concentration, Computer Science with a focus on data).

Experience

• Preferred: Prior experience or coursework demonstrating proficiency in:
  • Data Modeling: Understanding of conceptual, logical, and physical data models.
  • Requirements Analysis: Ability to gather, analyze, and document business and data requirements.
  • Business Analysis: Skills in understanding business processes and identifying analytical needs.
  • Data Storytelling & Visualization: Ability to communicate insights effectively through compelling narratives and visual representations.

Computer Skills

• Required:
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 applications (e.g., Excel, SharePoint, Teams).
  • Proficiency in SQL for data querying and manipulation.
  • Experience with Power BI for dashboard and report development.

Additional Requirements

• Knowledge of relational and multidimensional database designs.
• Understanding of data warehousing processes and designs.
• Familiarity with various business intelligence platforms.
• Knowledge of software development technologies (Visual Studio preferred).

Other Details

Work Hours

• This is a temporary intern position.
• Work schedule generally falls between 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.
• Occasional irregular hours may be required depending on workload and project demands.

Travel Requirements

• Minimal (0%-25%) travel may be required.

Compensation

• This is an hourly position, with pay disbursed biweekly.
