Job Summary

As a Business Intelligence Intern, you will play a crucial role in developing descriptive analytical reports and dashboards. These tools are instrumental in driving business decisions and shaping strategic initiatives across all areas of ArcBest and its subsidiaries. This internship provides exposure to a wide and ever-changing variety of subjects, allowing you to contribute to impactful projects that directly influence the company’s operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Requirements Analysis: Analyze user requirements to design functional specifications for BI solutions and estimate the necessary effort.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with stakeholders to document user requirements for data, dashboards, and reports, ensuring solutions meet business needs.
• Solution Design & Development: Design, develop, deploy, and document enterprise business intelligence solutions. This involves leveraging common data architecture and data optimization approaches to create efficient and effective tools.
• Performance Optimization: Test, troubleshoot, evaluate, and improve the performance of business intelligence artifacts, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
• Analytics Support: Collaborate with and support business analysts across the enterprise, sharing best practice analytics strategies and techniques to foster a data-driven culture.
• Project Participation: Actively participate in special projects, contributing your analytical skills to diverse initiatives.
• Continuous Learning: Utilize offered training opportunities, including working with an assigned trainer, self-study, and offered courses, to continuously enhance your skills.
• Ad-hoc Duties: Complete other duties and projects as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.

Required Qualifications

Education

• Currently pursuing a degree in Analytics or a related field.

Experience

• Prior experience or coursework in data modeling, requirements analysis, business analysis, data storytelling, and visualization is preferred, demonstrating foundational knowledge in these key areas.

Computer Skills

• Required: Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 applications, SQL, and Power BI.

Additional Requirements

• Knowledge of relational and multidimensional database designs, warehousing processes and designs, various business intelligence platforms, and software development technologies (Visual Studio preferred).

Work Environment and Compensation

• Work Hours: This is a temporary intern position with a typical work schedule between 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. Occasional irregular hours may be required depending on workload.
• Travel Requirements: Minimal (0%-25%).
• Compensation: This is an hourly position paid biweekly.
