Business Development Specialist | Steer

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Steer, initially requiring a three-month onsite ramp-up period at the Waltham, MA office before becoming eligible for a hybrid work schedule. Steer offers a suite of software tools that empower automotive repair shops to run profitable businesses by managing marketing and customer retention. This role is crucial for building and scaling the company’s outbound sales efforts, focused on uncovering new business opportunities and guiding customers through the sales process with a proactive approach.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Drive Outbound Growth: Conduct a high volume of calls and outreach to identify and engage decision-makers and economic buyers.
• Master the Product: Develop a deep understanding of our SaaS product and its features to effectively communicate value during online product demos.
• Consultative Selling: Employ a consultative approach to understand prospects’ needs and tailor presentations to their specific pain points.
• Pipeline Management: Maintain meticulous records of sales activities and customer interactions in our CRM to ensure accurate forecasting.
• Partner for Success: Qualify opportunities and collaborate closely with the broader sales team on strategy and deal progression.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. At least one year of sales experience, specifically in outbound prospecting or business development.
• Experience: A history of meeting or exceeding sales quotas and activity metrics, along with experience performing product demonstrations and consultations.
• Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with comfort in phone-based outreach and the ability to commute to the Waltham, MA office.
• Bonus: Familiarity with the automotive industry, home services, or blue-collar sectors; experience selling software or working in a high-growth startup environment; or experience using CRM tools to manage opportunities.
