Business Development Representative | GovPilot
The Tone:
This is a full-time, remote Business Development Representative role at GovPilot, with a preference for candidates located in the Central or Eastern United States. GovPilot delivers cloud-based software solutions specifically designed for local governments, with the core mission of improving communities and the public good. This position is vital for significantly expanding the company’s reach and impact, as you will be instrumental in growing and scaling sales efforts across many new states. You will tackle complex and meaningful challenges, knowing that your contributions directly help make communities better places to live and work.

• Mission: To expand GovPilot’s sales efforts into new states, making communities better through technology solutions.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Drive Growth: Identify and engage new sales opportunities to expand GovPilot’s market presence across various states, contributing directly to business growth and scaling efforts.
• Initiate Contact: Execute targeted outbound activities, including cold calling and email campaigns, to generate interest and secure initial meetings with potential government clients.
• Represent the Company: Actively participate in conferences and events to network, build relationships, and effectively showcase GovPilot’s cutting-edge software solutions to prospective buyers.
• Qualify Leads: Apply established lead generation strategies, such as MEDDIC, to thoroughly qualify prospects and efficiently move them through the sales pipeline.
• Navigate Sales Cycles: Utilize a strong understanding of government procurement processes and public sector sales cycles to guide interactions and facilitate successful partnerships.
The Must-Haves
• Background: This role requires 1-3 years of professional experience, ideally within the Gov-Tech SaaS sector or a closely related industry, demonstrating an understanding of the unique public sector environment.
• Experience: Proven hands-on experience in essential sales development activities, including outbound prospecting, initiating cold calls, running effective email campaigns, and actively participating in industry conferences and events. Furthermore, a solid familiarity with government procurement processes and the nuances of public sector sales cycles is crucial for success.
• Skills: Proficiency in utilizing key sales technologies such as Hubspot and Gong, coupled with a strong understanding and practical application of lead generation strategies like MEDDIC, is required.
• Bonus: Candidates will stand out with prior experience in the broader SaaS industry, particularly when delivering solutions to local governments, or with previous experience in a startup environment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, combined with a resilient, persistent, and self-motivated approach comfortable with high volume outreach, are highly valued.
