Business Systems Analyst I | Austal USA

The Tone:
This is an entry-level, in-person role at Austal USA, located in Mobile, AL. Austal USA is an organization operating in an industrial environment, as indicated by exposure to conditions like humid air, flashing lights, and loud noise, with potential involvement in projects requiring DoD clearance. As a Business Systems Analyst I, you will be a foundational member of the IT and business support teams, playing a crucial role in enhancing operational efficiency. Your efforts will directly support business development by meticulously managing data, generating critical reports, and contributing to various project lifecycles, ensuring that business needs are accurately translated into functional solutions.

What You’ll Actually Do
Data Management and Analysis: Support the comprehensive process of data gathering, followed by the thorough review and analysis of this data to extract meaningful insights and support informed decision-making within various business development activities.
Data Quality Assurance and Validation: Actively ensure the integrity of all processed data, participating in rigorous data quality control measures and performing essential validation steps to uphold the accuracy and reliability of information used across the organization.
Business Requirements Documentation: Take responsibility for creating detailed Business Requirement Documents (BRDs), meticulously capturing user needs and translating these business requirements into clear, actionable functional specifications for system development initiatives.
Software Testing and Quality Control: Create and execute test scripts under direct supervision, and play a vital role in various testing phases including Integration Testing, User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and Functionality Testing, ensuring that deployed solutions meet defined criteria.
Project Feasibility and Scoping: Perform initial feasibility analyses for new projects, accurately scope project parameters, and collaborate closely with the project management team to prioritize deliverables and effectively negotiate on product functionalities to align with business goals.
Analytic and Reporting Partnerships: Provide essential analytic support through the interpretation of data derived from database-supplied queries, and proactively partner with both development and other analytical teams to deliver comprehensive reporting on software solutions.
Adherence to Company Standards: Consistently comply with all guidelines outlined in Austal’s employee handbook, as well as general company procedures and policies, maintaining a high standard of professional conduct and operational adherence.

The Must-Haves
• Background: An Associate Degree in Business, Computer Applications, Computer Sciences, Information Systems, or a similar relevant discipline is required for this position.
• Experience: Two years of directly related work experience may be considered as an acceptable substitute in lieu of the Associate degree. Additionally, candidates must demonstrate a working knowledge of organizing and coordinating scheduled events, such as meetings and team-based tasks.
• Skills: Demonstrated working knowledge of computers and applicable software proficiency is essential. This role requires the ability to interpret data from database-supplied queries and a foundational understanding of performing feasibility analysis and scoping projects.
• Bonus: The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) clearance may be a requirement if deemed necessary for the specific responsibilities of this position.
