Broadcasting Internship | Florida Everblades Professional Hockey Club

The Tone:
This is an unpaid seasonal internship at the Florida Everblades Professional Hockey Club, located in Estero, FL. The Everblades are a professional ECHL team, offering a unique opportunity to gain real-world experience in a professional sports environment. This role is crucial for college students looking to develop broadcasting, media relations, and communications skills, positioning them for a future career in the sports industry upon graduation. This position helps deliver engaging content and maintain strong media presence for the club.

The TL;DR

• Team: Reports to the Play by Play Broadcaster and assists the Communications Coordinator and other department staff.
• Mission: To provide support for day-to-day and game operations in broadcasting, media relations, and communications for the Florida Everblades Hockey Club.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), Adobe Creative Cloud (Adobe Premiere, InDesign, Photoshop)

What You’ll Actually Do
• Broadcast Support: Provide assistance for all Everblades game broadcasts.
• Content Creation: Generate highlights for all home and away games.
• Digital Publishing: Write feature articles and create video content for online platforms.
• Information Compilation: Prepare game notes, bios, previews, recaps, and statistical packages for all necessary personnel and communication channels.
• Media Relations: Facilitate media interactions, including setting up live post-game press conferences with media members, players, and coaching staff.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Student currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program, eligible for college credit, with required broadcasting experience and an interest in sports journalism.
• Experience: Demonstrated broadcasting experience is required. Availability of 20-25 hours per week, including nights, weekends, and game days, is essential.
• Skills: Proficiency in AP Style writing and grammar; competence with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and Adobe Creative Cloud (Adobe Premiere, InDesign, Photoshop); excellent communication and customer service abilities.
• Bonus: Familiarity with ice hockey and a passion for the game are considered assets.
