Branch Sales Intern – United Rentals

In this role, you will gain comprehensive exposure to the sales process, spending time in both inside and outside sales functions, with a continuous emphasis on delivering exceptional customer service. You will acquire invaluable skills and industry knowledge, with the ultimate goal of transitioning into a Sales Associate position upon receiving your degree.

What You’ll Do:

• Participate in safety training, ensuring proper personal protective equipment usage, safe equipment handling, and adherence to safety policies and procedures.
• Contribute to the operational efficiency of the branch yard workflow, including equipment check-in, washing equipment, and assisting customers.
• Shadow both inside and outside sales positions to understand their roles, responsibilities, and the importance United Rentals places on customer focus.
• Receive training on key systems such as RentalMan and Salesforce.com.
• Actively participate in departmental and cross-functional meetings, ride-alongs, work sessions, conference calls, and WebEx meetings.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support branch operations.

Requirements:

• Prior relevant work experience is preferred, demonstrating an early interest in the field.
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills are essential for managing tasks and interacting effectively with colleagues and customers.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, along with strong presentation abilities, are crucial for conveying information clearly and persuasively.
• Possess strong analytical and financial analysis skills to understand business metrics and customer needs.
• High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access) is required for various tasks and reporting.
• Ability to effectively handle multiple assignments and project components simultaneously, demonstrating strong time management.
• Capable of working both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
• Self-motivated with a strong drive and a sense of urgency to achieve goals.
• Must be currently pursuing a BA/BS degree in sales or a related major.

This position is deemed Safety Sensitive for purposes of United Rentals’ policies and procedures.
