The Tone:
This is a high school internship at Advocate Health, within an Advocate Health facility in Charlotte, NC. Advocate Health is the third-largest nonprofit, integrated health system in the United States, a national leader in clinical innovation, health outcomes, and value-based care. This role offers high school students an observational and nonclinical experience to support daily operations in a healthcare environment, focusing on professional skill-building, teamwork, and understanding how complex healthcare systems function.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Policy Adherence: Ensure compliance with all hospital policies, including those related to safety, confidentiality, and infection prevention protocols.
• Administrative Support: Manage basic administrative tasks such as organizing materials, performing de-identified data entry, filing documents, and preparing supplies.
• Project Contribution: Contribute to research projects, assist with data analysis, and support the creation of various reports as assigned.
• Workflow Observation: Observe and learn from staff members to understand clinical and operational workflows within the healthcare system.
• Team Participation: Engage actively in team training sessions, check-ins, and assigned learning activities to foster professional growth.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently enrolled at Hawthorne Academy of Health Sciences, typically aged 16–18, with a demonstrated interest in healthcare careers and a willingness to learn. Parent/guardian consent is required if under 18.
• Experience: No prior professional experience required, but successful completion of necessary onboarding including orientation, safety training, and health clearances per facility policy.
• Skills: Ability to follow instructions, collaborate effectively in teams, maintain strict confidentiality, and possess basic computer and communication skills.
