What You’ll Actually Do
• Colony Management: Aid directly in the comprehensive care of four active bee colonies, contributing to their health and long-term sustainability.
• Inspection Techniques: Gain and apply hands-on experience with comprehensive hive inspection techniques to monitor colony conditions effectively.
• Behavioral Analysis: Observe and analyze complex bee behavior and overall colony health, developing a nuanced understanding of apicultural practices.
• Discussion & Research: Actively participate in discussion-based sessions that blend practical fieldwork with current bee-related research, the critical decline of pollinator populations, agricultural impacts on bee health, and the growing importance of urban beekeeping.
• Program Support: Fulfill other duties as assigned to contribute to the overall success and operations of the beekeeping program.
