Community Reinvestment Act Lending & Investments Lead | UBS

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at UBS, located in Salt Lake City. UBS is a leading global wealth manager and a prominent universal bank in Switzerland, also providing diversified asset management solutions and focused investment banking capabilities. This role is crucial for structuring and managing CRA-qualified lending and investment opportunities, primarily in affordable housing, ensuring alignment with business objectives, regulatory expectations, and risk management practices. The individual in this position will be instrumental in achieving the bank’s Community Reinvestment Act performance objectives.

• Mission: Owns sourcing, evaluating, structuring, and managing CRA-qualified lending and investment activities with a focus on affordable housing.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Source, evaluate, structure, and manage CRA-qualified lending and investment activities, focusing specifically on affordable housing and Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) investments.
• Collaborate with the CRA Officer and internal stakeholders to support the Bank’s CRA strategy and achieve established performance objectives.
• Maintain and strengthen CRA lending and investment policies and procedures, including leading the development and implementation of new LIHTC investment procedures and related governance frameworks.
• Support the development, implementation, and ongoing execution of the Bank’s CRA strategy, monitoring performance against strategic objectives and evaluating regulatory developments.
• Prepare investment and credit memoranda for committee review and approval, ensuring adherence to safe and sound risk management practices.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Real Estate, Urban Planning, or a related field, with extensive Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) experience.
• Experience: Ideally 5-7 years in affordable housing finance, community development finance, CRA investments, commercial real estate lending, or related banking functions, including investment origination, underwriting, due diligence, transaction structuring, portfolio management, and relationship management.
• Skills: Demonstrated expertise in CRA-qualified lending and investment activities, including a strong working knowledge of CRA regulations; strong financial analysis, credit underwriting, investment evaluation, and risk assessment skills; and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Bonus: Prior CRA examination or regulatory compliance experience; knowledge of community development lending programs such as Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and HUD; an advanced degree or relevant professional certification; and curiosity about how AI can improve workflows.
