The Tone:
This is an internship at Carr, Riggs & Ingram, located in Melville, NY. Carr, Riggs & Ingram is a nationally recognized accounting and advisory firm that delivers tailored audit, tax, and business consulting solutions to ensure client success. This Capital Markets Audit Intern role is crucial for supporting the firm’s national practice, which serves publicly traded, pre-IPO, and private equity-backed companies. The intern will receive hands-on experience by directly supporting active client engagements, helping them navigate complex financial reporting, compliance, and auditing standards across various industries.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Audit Support: Gain hands-on experience by directly supporting active client engagements with partners, managers, and senior associates.
• Procedure Execution: Perform financial statement audit procedures, including testing account balances, transactions, and internal controls.
• Documentation: Prepare comprehensive audit workpapers and all necessary supporting documentation.
• Analysis & Research: Conduct analytical procedures, financial statement analyses, and research accounting and auditing guidance.
• Engagement Lifecycle: Contribute to engagements throughout their planning, fieldwork, and completion stages, including participating in client meetings.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-level candidate pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, with an intention to pursue CPA licensure. Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for employment-based visa sponsorship now or in the future, as CRI will not sponsor U.S. work visa status for this or future positions.
• Experience: Strong academic performance is required.
• Skills: Foundational understanding of accounting principles, analytical thinking, attention to detail for documentation, and effective collaboration abilities.
• Bonus: Completion of introductory and intermediate accounting coursework is preferred, along with leadership experience from student organizations, athletics, employment, or volunteer activities.
