The Tone:
This is an Audit Intern position at CBIZ, a professional services company. The role focuses on gaining practical experience by assisting with diverse audit assignments for clients across various industries, including Real Estate, Construction, Nonprofit, and Manufacturing. This internship is essential for supporting client engagements, developing strong professional relationships, and ensuring adherence to high professional standards while contributing to the overall audit process. Interns will develop fundamental skills in accounting and auditing principles, which are critical for delivering exceptional service and understanding client goals.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Audit Planning: Gain an understanding of audit planning processes and actively assist in the planning phase for multiple client assignments across diverse industries such as Real Estate, Construction, Nonprofit, and Manufacturing.
• Principle Application: Execute a solid understanding of accounting and auditing principles, quality control standards, and technology implementation procedures as they relate to individual client engagements.
• Issue Identification: Proactively identify audit issues, complex technical matters, and opportunities for process improvement, communicating these clearly with senior associates, managers, and partners for timely resolution during the audit process.
• Client Engagement: Participate actively in client assignments from their beginning to end, focusing on developing and maintaining excellent working relationships with all levels of client staff to increase satisfaction and strengthen client partnerships.
• Professional Standards: Maintain and comply with the highest degree of professional standards, ensure strict client confidentiality, and adhere to personal conduct expectations throughout all responsibilities.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Candidates should be actively working towards a Bachelor’s degree, demonstrating a foundational grasp of core accounting and auditing principles.
• Experience: No specific prior work experience or years are strictly required, though active participation in student organizations or relevant work experience in accounting or a related field is considered a valuable advantage.
• Skills: Possess excellent interpersonal, analytical, research, and project management skills; demonstrate the ability to communicate verbally and in writing effectively across all organizational levels, both internally and externally; exhibit the capacity to multi-task, think independently, and solve problems within a results-driven, team-oriented environment; and demonstrate strong computer and technical skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, and intranet software.
• Bonus: A Master’s degree in Accounting, Taxation, or a related field is preferred for this role.
