The Tone:
This is a temporary externship at Castro & Company, located in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. The firm is a dedicated CPA firm specializing in Audit, Advisory, Accounting, and IT services for the Federal Government. This externship provides undergraduate students hands-on exposure to federal accounting and consulting, supporting national agencies by delivering high-quality, efficient, and reliable financial solutions. The role matters by helping clients achieve accountability, transparency, and excellence in their financial management and operations.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Observe: Rotate through Audit and Advisory service lines to observe real client projects.
• Participate: Engage in interactive learning sessions and Q&A with firm professionals.
• Understand: Grasp the fundamentals of federal audit and assurance engagements.
• Learn: Discover how advisory teams assist clients with process improvement, internal controls, and risk management.
• Gain Exposure: Experience federal financial reporting, compliance, and consulting services.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. Current undergraduate student.
• Experience: Strong academic performance. U.S. citizenship required due to potential federal client exposure.
• Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, eager to learn, proactive, and collaborative.
• Bonus: Rising junior or senior preferred.
