Assurance Intern – Winter 2028 (Dallas) | BDO USA

The Tone:
This is a seasonal internship at BDO USA, located in Dallas, TX. BDO provides assurance, tax, and advisory services to clients across the U.S. and globally. In this role, you will apply your academic background and organizational skills to support the firm’s diverse client base, gaining hands-on experience and building relationships crucial for your career success. You will contribute to problem-solving and fact-finding within a supportive team environment.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Learn and apply accounting and auditing principles: Participate in a structured training program to become familiar with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Generally Accepted Auditing Standards.
• Support audit processes: Assist with various stages of the audit process by becoming familiar with BDO specific audit methodology and providing support functions to audit staff.
• Engage with clients and external parties: Communicate with clients’ customers, creditors, banks, and related parties regarding audit issues.
• Document audit work: Prepare and document work in working papers using BDO-specific tools and templates.
• Conduct research and present findings: Complete an assigned accounting or audit-related research project and present the findings to a panel of Assurance professionals.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Accounting. This is an entry-level internship.
• Experience: No specific years of experience required; leadership experience is preferred.
• Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); Actively pursuing school credits to become a CPA; Strong written and verbal communication skills; Ability to follow instructions and work effectively in a team setting.
• Bonus: Pursuing a Master’s degree in Accounting; Prior leadership experience; Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
