This is a full-time Associate role at Blacklock Group, collaborating closely with a leading private equity firm specializing in investments across the dynamic TMT, Consumer, Sports, and Media sectors. For the investment team, this Associate position is pivotal, granting significant responsibility and comprehensive involvement throughout the entire investment lifecycle. What You’ll Actually Do
• Financial Modeling: Build, meticulously maintain, and critically analyze complex financial models, including sophisticated leveraged buyout (LBO) analyses, detailed operating models, and comprehensive M&A analyses, to rigorously support potential investment opportunities and strategic planning.
• Market and Competitive Analysis: Conduct thorough industry research and in-depth competitive analysis to identify emerging trends, evaluate market dynamics, and inform robust investment theses and strategic positioning within target sectors.
• Due Diligence Leadership: Take the lead on critical due diligence workstreams for prospective investments, coordinating efforts and effectively managing relationships with third-party advisors to ensure a comprehensive and accurate assessment.
• Investment Documentation Development: Prepare clear, concise, and compelling investment memoranda and highly professional Investment Committee materials that effectively communicate key findings, risks, and recommendations to senior stakeholders.
• Transaction Support and Portfolio Oversight: Provide essential support for transaction structuring and ensure smooth closing processes. Post-acquisition, actively monitor portfolio company performance against key performance indicators (KPIs), assist with strategic and operational value-creation initiatives, and contribute to both add-on acquisitions and exit processes.
The Must-Haves
• Background: An Officer-level professional bringing 2–4 years of prior experience, specifically gained within demanding environments such as investment banking, private equity, or transaction advisory roles.
• Experience: Demonstrated strong financial modeling and valuation capabilities are critical, enabling the Associate to perform rigorous quantitative analysis essential for investment decision-making.
• Skills: Possesses excellent analytical skills to break down complex problems and derive actionable insights, coupled with strong communication skills necessary for clear articulation of findings and collaborative engagement.
• Bonus: A clear and demonstrable interest in media, communications, or digital business models, which aligns with the firm’s core investment focus. Additionally, the ability to be highly detail-oriented while simultaneously managing multiple concurrent workstreams effectively is a key asset.
