Associate – Financial Advisory Services | Huntington National Bank

The Tone:
Huntington National Bank is a prominent financial institution that offers a range of banking services. This is a full-time, exempt role, operating in a hybrid work environment, focused on providing specialized financial advisory services to clients. As an Associate on the Financial Advisory Services (FAS) team, you will be instrumental in developing solutions to complex financial and operational challenges, directly contributing to improving client performance and stability.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Transaction Due Diligence: Analyze historical financial results to identify normalized earnings, working capital trends, and key diligence findings. Prepare Quality of Earnings (QoE) reports, including revenue, margin, and EBITDA analyses, and quantify adjustments for non-recurring items or operational inefficiencies.
• Corporate Restructuring & Turnaround: Perform cash flow forecasting, liquidity analysis, and short-term cash management assessments. Analyze capital structures and debt agreements to identify risks and support the development of turnaround plans, cost reduction initiatives, and operational improvement strategies.
• Financial Modeling & Analysis: Build and maintain comprehensive financial models, including projections, sensitivity analyses, and scenario modeling. Conduct variance and trend analyses across revenue streams, cost structures, and key financial KPIs to support business plans and forecasts.
• Data Analytics & Process Improvement: Utilize data analytics tools such as Excel, Power BI, and Alteryx to analyze large datasets and identify critical trends. Assist in automating and improving financial reporting and diligence workflows, while evaluating internal controls and financial reporting processes.
• Stakeholder Engagement & Communication: Support client interactions, data requests, and management interviews during both buy-side and sell-side diligence processes. Assist with communications involving lenders, creditors, and investors, and support bankruptcy preparation and administration for clients.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Possess a BA/BS degree in Accounting, Finance, or another analytical field, demonstrating a strong foundation in core financial concepts.
• Experience: Requires 2-4 years of professional experience in corporate restructuring, investment, accounting, and/or consulting roles, applying analytical and problem-solving skills to complex financial challenges.
• Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, with the ability to design, build, and utilize comprehensive integrated financial models. Strong understanding and analysis of financial statements, coupled with foundational knowledge of operational and financial restructuring, including debtor and creditor perspectives.
• Bonus: An MBA or MS in Accounting, Finance, or an analytical field is preferred, along with critical thinking and creative problem-solving abilities. Candidates should demonstrate excellent attention to detail, strong oral communication and business writing skills, and a willingness to travel 25-50%.
