Accountant, Associate | Southland Industries

The Tone:
This is an Associate Accountant role at Southland Industries, located in Virginia. This role is critical for maintaining accurate financial records, managing fundamental financial transactions, and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles for the company.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Transactions: Ensure accurate and timely processing of assigned financial transactions, which may include accounts payable, accounts receivable, or payroll.
• Recordkeeping: Establish and maintain precise financial records to guarantee data integrity and currency.
• Problem Resolution: Research and resolve straightforward accounting discrepancies and irregularities promptly, escalating more complex issues for resolution.
• Compliance: Follow established policies and procedures to ensure adherence to all state and federal laws and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
• Inquiries: Respond to internal and external customer inquiries in a timely and professional manner.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-level position requiring basic accounting knowledge, with an Associate’s degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent experience preferred.
• Experience: 0-3 years of accounting experience preferred. Requires computer proficiency and technical aptitude, with intermediate ability to utilize MS Word, Excel, and Power Point.
• Skills: Strong organizational skills with a high level of attention to detail, effective written and verbal communication skills, ability to analyze and resolve basic issues, and a proven ability to meet tight deadlines while maintaining confidentiality and exercising discretion.
• Bonus: Able to remain flexible in a rapidly changing environment.
