Assistant Director of Maintenance | The Grand Healthcare System

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at The Grand Healthcare System, operating 35 hours per week in one of our healthcare facilities. The Grand Healthcare System is dedicated to providing exceptional care to residents and ensuring a safe, comfortable, and well-maintained environment for all. This Assistant Director of Maintenance position is crucial for upholding these standards by proactively managing facility operations. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring that all infrastructure and equipment function smoothly, safely, and efficiently, directly contributing to the quality of life for residents and the operational integrity of our healthcare system.

The TL;DR

• Mission: Ensure the facility operates smoothly, safely, and efficiently by planning and overseeing all maintenance and repair activities.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Facility Operations: Conduct regular, thorough inspections of the facility to ensure safety, optimal upkeep, and adherence to operational standards. This includes meticulously checking equipment performance and maintaining a high standard of facility appearance.
• Maintenance Execution & Supervision: Plan, prioritize, and directly oversee all maintenance and repair activities from initiation to completion, ensuring work is done to a high-quality standard and within established timelines.
• Vendor & Contract Management: Actively supervise all contracted services to ensure they meet specified quality standards and are completed efficiently and in accordance with established timelines and agreements.
• Record-Keeping & Compliance: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records for all repairs, preventative maintenance schedules, warranties, and official inspections. Simultaneously, ensure all maintenance work strictly complies with Local, State, Federal, and OSHA standards and relevant regulations.
• Emergency Response: Be readily available for on-call emergency situations and prepared to address urgent maintenance needs swiftly and effectively as required, ensuring minimal disruption to facility operations.

The Must-Haves
• Background: A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Candidates must possess extensive hands-on experience across multiple core maintenance domains, including HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, and general facility maintenance.
• Experience: Required supervisory experience leading and managing maintenance teams. Valuable experience would also include working within skilled nursing facilities or long-term care (LTC) settings.
• Skills: Proficiency in MS Office applications and basic computer systems is essential for accurate record-keeping and effective communication. Strong leadership and supervisory skills are necessary to guide and motivate a maintenance team. A solid understanding of DOH, CMS, and Life Safety Code requirements is critical for ensuring compliance. The role demands strong organizational and multitasking abilities, alongside the capacity to prioritize effectively and perform well under pressure. A demonstrated commitment to providing excellent service and maintaining high standards is also required.
• Bonus: Prior professional experience specifically within skilled nursing facilities or other long-term care (LTC) environments.
