Analytics Engineer 1-2 (Junior/Associate-Level)

UNCOMN is seeking an Analytics Engineer 1-2 (Junior/Associate-Level) to contribute to our mission by:

  • Analyze, interpret, and prepare data to support reporting and decision-making, including transforming raw data into structured, reliable datasets for downstream use.
  • Develop and maintain reports and recurring analyses, while supporting and validating the underlying datasets that power them.
  • Assist in building, maintaining, and documenting data models, including defining data structures, relationships, and business logic.
  • Contribute to data quality efforts by validating, testing, and monitoring datasets to ensure accuracy, consistency, and reliability.
  • Support the development and maintenance of data processes, including basic data transformations and data flow management.
  • Document data sources, definitions, and lineage to improve transparency and usability across the analytics layer.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand data requirements, translate business needs into data solutions, and communicate outputs clearly.
  • Participate in data governance and best practices initiatives, contributing to the overall structure and usability of data.
  • Contingent upon contract award.

Requirements

  • 1+ year of related professional experience.
  • Must be eligible to obtain a Secret clearance, granted by the US Government as needed, which requires US citizenship. The government also uses 13 adjudicative guidelines to determine an individual’s eligibility.
  • Foundational knowledge of querying, data analysis, and data preparation techniques, along with an understanding of relationships between data elements.
  • Basic understanding of data modeling, data flow concepts, and how data is structured, stored, and used across systems.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to ensure data accuracy and consistency.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to document and explain data concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated curiosity and eagerness to learn and grow across data analytics, data architecture, and related disciplines.
  • Must be comfortable working onsite full-time at Naval Station Norfolk or at a designated partner facility within the Norfolk, Hampton, or Virginia Beach area, pending final site establishment.
  • Must be comfortable meeting DoD Cyber Workforce Framework (DCWF)/8140 requirements, obtaining professional certifications as required by the client/contract.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s of Science degree in a similar field/course of study and/or active professional certifications such as CompTIA Security+.
  • Active DoD security clearance.
  • Prior military and/or government contracting experience.
