What You’ll Actually Do
• Analytical Support: Provide essential analytical support in the underwriting and closing phases of commercial real estate loans, securitizations, or affordable housing loans on behalf of SitusAMC’s clients.
• Document Review: Systematically review, analyze, and interpret a wide array of financial operating statements, rent rolls, third-party reports, tenant lease agreements, surveys, title reports, zoning reports, property insurance policies, and credit reports to meet due diligence requirements.
• Market Research: Conduct thorough telephone interviews to solicit critical market data from brokers, appraisers, investors, and other market participants, then research, analyze, and summarize market and submarket information including inventory, absorption, new/proposed development, and rent and vacancy trends.
• Data Extraction & Tenant Analysis: Extract pertinent data from appraisal, engineering, environmental, and other third-party reports, while also researching, analyzing, and summarizing tenant-level information, including financial trends and credit ratings or stock market capitalization.
• Report Generation & Valuation: Write detailed property, market, borrower/sponsor descriptions, and third-party report summaries for inclusion in credit memos and asset summary reports, and actively assist in developing value conclusions for all property types.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, real estate, or business, or an equivalent level of education and experience. This is an entry-level professional position.
• Experience: 0-2 years of industry and/or relevant experience in real estate or financial services, such as appraisal, brokerage, or banking, primarily focused on commercial properties.
• Skills: Proficient in Excel with strong cash flow modeling skills, strong communication and business writing skills, and a full understanding of property sectors (office, retail, industrial, hotel, multifamily) and their different investment characteristics, with an ability to see the “big picture” in commercial real estate and capital markets finance transactions.
• Bonus: Experienced underwriting agency multifamily, CMBS, or CRE balance sheet loans or securitization is strongly preferred, along with familiarity with commercial real estate, affordable housing loans, the due diligence process, commercial lending policies, securitization, and credit and risk management policies. Proficiency in Argus is also preferred.
