Analyst, Label Administration
Gelfand, Rennert & Feldman (“GRF”), a leading full-service business management firm founded in 1967, is seeking an Analyst, Label Administration. GRF serves an exclusive assortment of entertainers, executives, and high net worth individuals, offering comprehensive financial services across various creative and performing arts industries, including music, motion pictures, television, sports, and literature. With offices in Los Angeles, New York City, Nashville, San Rafael, Wilmington, and London, GRF boasts 30 partners and over 600 staff members.
This position is ideal for candidates with experience in complex royalty accounting within the music industry. The Analyst will be responsible for preparing detailed royalty statements and allocation schedules for independent record label and music clients. GRF offers flexibility in work schedules, and this role can be performed remotely from anywhere within the United States.
Primary Responsibilities
- Prepare various types of royalty accountings, including mechanical, artist, producer, and net profit royalties, for independent label clients.
- Summarize artist and third-party agreements, applying key contractual provisions to ensure accurate royalty statement preparation.
- Analyze and interpret sales data files obtained from diverse distribution sources.
- Set up product metadata, configure artist royalty rates, and manage mechanical licenses within specialized royalty accounting software.
- Execute mechanical royalty calculations, which involves confirming publishing splits and securing necessary mechanical licenses.
- Undertake other projects and duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- Required: Bachelor’s degree with at least 1 year of experience in a similar role.
- Highly Preferred: Over 2 years of experience in a similar role, coupled with hands-on experience using royalty software.
- Expertise: Working knowledge of recording agreements, royalty calculation methodologies, and contract review processes.
- Software Proficiency: Working knowledge of industry-standard royalty accounting software such as RoyaltyShare, Curve, Record Maestro, or SR1.
- Technical Skills: Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including proficiency in pivot table creation, is essential.
- Work Ethic: Ability to work independently with strong time management skills to effectively prioritize tasks and meet strict deadlines.
- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills are critical for this role.
Compensation & Benefits
This is a non-exempt, overtime-eligible position. The annualized base pay range for this role is expected to be between $60,000 – $65,000. Actual base pay may vary based on factors such as experience, subject matter expertise, geographic location, and the applicant’s skill set. The total compensation package includes not only base pay but also potential annual bonuses and a comprehensive benefits package.
