Banking Support Analyst 1 – Officer | Citigroup Inc.

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Citigroup Inc., located in Mumbai, India. The Mumbai Industry Analytics Group (MIAG) works with Investment Banking teams who partner with corporate clients to achieve their strategic goals. This role is crucial in delivering value to clients by providing essential research, analysis, and financial insights. The work directly supports bankers in advising and servicing clients on critical strategic decisions, including mergers & acquisitions, financings, and other strategic advisory services.

• Team: Mumbai Industry Analytics Group (MIAG) works with Investment Banking teams; Analyst will be aligned to a specific sector and geography.
• Mission: To provide analytical support and strategic insights that help Investment Banking teams advise clients on M&A, financings, and strategic advisory.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Industry Analysis: Research and prepare comprehensive industry and market overviews.
• Company Analysis: Analyze specific companies, including their business operations, financial information, and operational Key Performance Indicators.
• Valuation: Conduct relative valuation using comparable company analysis and precedent transaction analysis to develop a clear valuation perspective.
• Reporting: Prepare informative newsletters on specific industries or companies for senior management to support strategic advisory.
• Client Support: Partner with the team to deliver value to clients on their most important strategic decisions and transactions.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Master’s Degree (MBA, CA, or Masters in Finance/Engineering). Strong understanding of accounting and corporate finance concepts. Deep interest in investment banking, economics, and finance in general.
• Experience: Performing company and sector research, financial valuation and modelling, and analysis of potential buyers/investors.
• Skills: Analytical approach with good attention to details; project management for delivery of client-ready work product; excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral); ability to work effectively in teams, promoting constructive dialogue and sharing best practices; ability to recognize and respect confidentiality of information.
• Bonus: Proactively works towards innovative idea generation to improve existing approaches; raises the right questions and communicates team conflicts with integrity and credibility.
