Analyst | Newmark
The Tone:
This is an Analyst role at Newmark, located in the New York office. Newmark’s Debt, Equity & Structured Finance team is a deep group of real estate investment banking professionals focused on placing debt and equity capital for commercial real estate investors. The team has executed over $180 billion of transactions since 2019, including more than $21 billion of hotel transactions. This role is crucial for an individual to join a preeminent team, primarily supporting the hospitality practice and participating in every stage of complex real estate transactions in a high-energy, in-office environment.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Prepare pitch materials and offering memoranda by conducting research, performing financial modeling, and writing transaction narratives.
• Model complex property level cash flows and debt/equity structures using market information, appraisals, and comparable data.
• Review financial statements, loan documents, joint venture agreements, and appraisals to identify relevant information for transactions.
• Network within the industry by attending meetings, events, and participating in real estate trade organizations.
• Participate in weekly pipeline meetings to discuss deal flow, deal status, market conditions, and review new client leads.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality Management, Real Estate, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related discipline, with a core understanding of hospitality real estate.
• Experience: 0-2 years of experience in hospitality real estate, including capital markets, acquisitions, development, or asset management, within an analytically rigorous environment.
• Skills: Complex financial modeling, understanding of hotel P&L’s and STR reports, strong research, analytical, and problem-solving abilities, exceptional writing and communication skills, and strong organizational capabilities.
• Bonus: Real estate investment banking or commercial real estate lending/investing experience is preferred. Candidates from a hotel or hospitality program are a plus.
