Analyst, Engineering Divisional CFO | Goldman Sachs
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Goldman Sachs, located in New York, NY. Goldman Sachs is a leading global financial institution, and its Corporate Planning & Management division integrates crucial financial and operational functions. This Analyst position within the Engineering Division CFO team is vital for supporting strategic financial planning, investment governance, and resource allocation across one of the firm’s most significant investment areas. The role directly contributes to ensuring capital and operating expenditures for technology are deployed effectively to meet firm priorities.

• Mission: This person supports financial planning, investment governance, and strategic decision-making across the firm’s Engineering Division.
• Tech Stack: Anaplan, Power BI, Alteryx, Tableau, Microsoft Excel
What You’ll Actually Do
• Planning: Support the annual budget planning process and quarterly forecasting cycles specifically for Engineering divisions.
• Governance: Support and help execute the firm’s Zero-Based Budgeting (ZBB) process, including data collection, validation, analysis, and reporting.
• Reporting: Prepare monthly financial reporting packages and perform variance analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
• Collaboration: Partner with Engineering COO teams and business stakeholders to support financial reviews and investment planning discussions.
• Optimization: Identify opportunities to improve budgeting, forecasting, and reporting processes through automation and process optimization.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related discipline. Entry-level.
• Experience: 0–2 years of experience in Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), Corporate Finance, Business Analytics, or a related analytical function.
• Skills: Strong financial and analytical foundation, advanced Microsoft Excel skills including financial modeling, strong quantitative and problem-solving capabilities, excellent written and verbal communication, and strong organizational and project management skills.
• Bonus: Experience with or strong aptitude for learning enterprise planning and analytics platforms such as Anaplan, Power BI, Alteryx, Tableau, or similar tools, and an interest in emerging technologies including artificial intelligence and data-driven business transformation.
