Job Title: AIC Internship (Alternative in the Community)

Job Summary:

Wheeler is seeking a Criminal Justice major for an internship opportunity within its AIC program. This internship is designed to provide a robust, hands-on experience to fulfill undergraduate degree requirements. The intern will work with adults involved with the court or probation, supporting their rehabilitation and reintegration into the community.

About the AIC Program:

Wheeler Clinic’s Alternative in the Community (AIC) programs offer community-based intervention services for adults involved with the court, probation, or parole. The program utilizes a curriculum-driven, evidence-based model to assess individual needs and reduce involvement in the criminal justice system.

Services Provided:

The AIC program offers a range of services, including:

Substance use intervention
Trauma groups
Skill building
Job development and placement
Case management
Educational, basic needs and vocational supports
Gender-responsive programming

Service Area:

The AIC program serves adults in the following Connecticut towns:

Berlin, Bristol, Burlington, Cheshire, Chester, Clinton, Cromwell, Deep River, Durham, East Haddam, Essex, Haddam, Killingworth, Meriden, Middlefield, Middletown, New Britain, Newington, Old Saybrook, Plainville, Plymouth, Portland, Prospect, Rocky Hill, Simsbury, Southington, Wallingford, Westbrook, and Wethersfield.
