The Tone:
This is an AI Engineering internship at Prosper Marketplace, located in San Francisco, CA. Prosper is a leading financial technology company that pioneered peer-to-peer lending in the US and now offers a comprehensive suite of digital personal finance products, including personal loans and the Prosper® Card. This role is essential to Prosper’s strategic shift towards Intent-Driven Orchestration, moving beyond static software to create fluid, adaptive professional tools and web pages. As an intern, you will contribute directly to building the core engine that transforms complex company knowledge into immediate, successful actions across all Prosper platforms, enabling systems to adapt in real-time to user intent.

What You’ll Actually Do
• System Connectivity: Build and use MCP (Model Context Protocol) Servers to securely bridge the gap between large language models and Prosper’s internal and external data ecosystems.
• Knowledge Synthesis: Develop advanced Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines that transform vast, evolving company documentation into a dynamic “Source of Truth” for real-time decision-making and insights.
• Fluid Interface Logic: Engineer workflows that prioritize relevancy over frequency, ensuring that both internal professional tools and external web pages surface the most pertinent data at the exact right time for the user.
• GCP Implementation: Deploy and optimize these newly developed services using Google Cloud Platform’s Vertex AI, ensuring high-speed execution, robust data privacy, and strong security measures across all deployments.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Student, currently enrolled in an accredited college or university, with a focus on AI Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related technical discipline. This role requires an interest in applying advanced AI concepts to financial technology challenges.
• Experience: Experience applying Function Calling techniques to AI models and working with AI orchestration frameworks such as LangGraph or Vertex AI Reasoning Engine.
• Skills: Proficiency in programming languages including Python and Java. Strong understanding and practical application of Function Calling and AI orchestration frameworks. High proficiency in using AI coding assistants to navigate complex deployments and optimize system architecture, along with practical experience deploying services on GCP Vertex AI.
• Bonus: A genuine interest in learning about the Fintech domain and delivering cutting-edge, high-quality solutions to solve business problems.
