Administrative Fellow | CalOptima

The Tone:
This is a 12-month full-time administrative fellowship at CalOptima, located in Orange, CA. CalOptima is a mission-driven community-based organization that serves member health with excellence and dignity. This role is integral to the Executive Office team, helping to shape the future of healthcare by striving for excellence and respecting the value and needs of each member through collaboration.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Support program goals: Participate in a high-quality, member-focused culture and assist in carrying out department responsibilities to support short- and long-term goals.
• Analyze and report: Gather, analyze, and interpret information to synthesize recommendations, report outcomes, present findings, develop processes, and initiate improvements.
• Collaborate on projects: Work collaboratively with executive leadership to assist in projects related to CalOptima Health and participate in project-related work teams.
• Ensure compliance: Maintain compliance with all state and federal legal requirements, including Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
• Support strategic initiatives: Participate with executive leadership in the design, development, integration, and implementation of strategic initiatives, health improvement, community outreach, and clinical research.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Master’s degree in business administration, healthcare administration, public health, nursing, public administration, or a relevant field, conferred prior to and within 24 months of the July fellowship start date.
• Experience: The fellowship is a 12-month appointment designed to provide educational, interactive, and enriching professional development and understanding of CalOptima Health and health plan operations.
• Skills: Ability to develop rapport and maintain effective working relationships with leadership, staff, and external contacts; ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment; ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills; ability to manage multiple projects and identify collaboration opportunities; proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
