Job Description: Actuarial Intern (Hybrid)
Safe-Guard’s actuarial team is expanding and seeking an Actuarial Intern to join their Risk team. This 10-week internship offers a unique opportunity to gain core actuarial knowledge, develop business acumen, and build a professional network within the automotive warranty industry. The intern will contribute to daily operations and various projects alongside experienced pricing and reserving actuaries. The internship provides exposure to the broader auto industry, interacting with product providers, dealerships, and OEM partners. Following the internship, there’s potential for an analyst role.
Potential Responsibilities:
• Assisting the pricing team in Quarterly Business Reviews with key partners.
• Supporting the reserving team in underwriting forecasting and analysis of profit shares and cancellation liabilities.
• Utilizing Power BI and Tableau to build and enhance dashboards for internal and external reporting.
• Preparing and cleansing data using SQL and Excel to analyze portfolio trends and create analytical exhibits for client requests.
• Collaborating with internal (Accounting, Finance, Sales, Analytics, Underwriting) and external stakeholders.
Job Qualifications:
• Strong desire for learning, high performance, and professional growth.
• Proven analytical skills (B.S. or higher in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field).
• Commitment to passing actuarial exams and pursuing the ACAS designation.
• Experience with Excel; SQL proficiency preferred but not required.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to work effectively in a team.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with Tableau, Power BI, or similar analytics tools is a plus.
