Job Description:
Security Benefit is seeking an Actuarial Intern to work within the Investment Actuary Department. The intern will be exposed to various aspects of the company’s activities, focusing on the day-to-day operations of the Investments Actuarial Team.
Responsibilities include:
• Assisting with updating and improving reports, spreadsheets, and documentation.
• Supporting the Investment Actuarial Assistant.
• Data validation, data flow automation, and process documentation.
• Developing and utilizing calculation tools in support of corporate models.
• Working on special projects as assigned.
Requirements:
• Must be a full-time college student (junior to graduate level) pursuing a degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Sciences, Finance, or Computer Science.
• Strong GPA in all areas of study.
• Commitment to pursuing an actuarial credential, demonstrated by preparation for Society of Actuaries exams or exam credit.
• Advanced Excel knowledge/skill required including functions and macro creation, editing and use
• Experience with modern programming languages preferred
• Exposure to fixed income asset types
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
• Accuracy and attention to detail.
Additional Information:
• The internship is part-time during semesters (approximately 19 hours per week) and can be full-time (up to 40 hours per week) during the summer. This is not a summer-only internship.
• The internship can be located in Topeka or Overland Park, Kansas, Des Moines, Iowa, or remote.
