Accounting Support Professional – Hybrid | WilkinGuttenplan
The Tone:
This is a Hybrid Accounting Support Professional role at WilkinGuttenplan, a leading accounting and advisory firm operating in New Jersey and New York City since 1983. WG specializes in tax, auditing, and financial statement preparation for high-net worth individuals and diverse businesses across many industries. This position is vital for providing consistent, dedicated on-site bookkeeping and accounting support directly to client teams, primarily in Englewood, NJ. The Accounting Support Professional takes ownership of maintaining current client books, responding to day-to-day accounting inquiries, and ensuring smooth year-end and tax processes for WilkinGuttenplan’s clients.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Client Support: Provide dedicated on-site accounting and bookkeeping support for clients in Englewood, NJ up to three days per week, serving as an immediate resource for their day-to-day accounting questions and operational needs.
• Financial Management: Manage client financial records by posting and coding transactions to appropriate general ledger accounts in QuickBooks, performing monthly QuickBooks reviews and clean-up, and maintaining the general ledger through recording and adjusting journal entries.
• Reporting & Reconciliation: Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports, for client and firm review, and conduct monthly bank reconciliations by comparing records to statements and resolving discrepancies.
• Year-End & Tax Prep: Assist with year-end procedures such as cash tie-outs, accounts payable searches, accounts receivable, and 1099 preparation, while also supporting the tax preparation process by organizing and preparing client files and reviewing related correspondence.
• Relationship Building: Enhance and strengthen relationships with both the engagement team and assigned clients by staying responsive to requests, proactively communicating when questions or issues arise, and managing time effectively across multiple engagements.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Associate or Bachelor degree in Accounting required, demonstrating a solid understanding of accounting principles.
• Experience: Required hands-on bookkeeping or accounting experience, including proficiency with QuickBooks.
• Skills: Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, excellent project management, analytical, interpersonal, and communication abilities (oral and written).
• Bonus: Data import experience and familiarity with Yardi software are preferred.
