Accounting Specialist (Resort) | Mii amo

The Tone:

• Team: Reports to Accounting Department leadership.
• Mission: Ensures financial transactions are accurately recorded, properly supported, and processed in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), company policies, and applicable regulations.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Office, Excel, point-of-sale systems, hospitality accounting or property-management systems.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Accounts Payable: Process accounts payable transactions, including reviewing invoices for accuracy, appropriate approvals, coding, and timely payment processing.
• Payroll Support: Support payroll-related processes by reviewing payroll information for accuracy and assisting with compliance with federal and Virginia payroll requirements.
• Cash Management: Perform cashiering and cash-handling functions, including reviewing daily transactions, reconciling cash, investigating discrepancies, and ensuring appropriate documentation.
• Revenue Reporting: Support daily revenue and financial reporting processes, including the review and reconciliation of transactions generated by Food & Beverage and other resort operations.
• Financial Record Keeping: Maintain accurate accounting records, assist with the proper recording and classification of financial transactions, and support various account reconciliations.

The Must-Haves
• Background: High school diploma or equivalent required, with a working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
• Experience: Previous experience in accounting, accounts payable, payroll support, cashiering, or a related financial operations role, including handling cash, reconciling transactions, and investigating discrepancies.
• Skills: Strong attention to detail and accuracy, proficiency with Microsoft Office (particularly Excel), and strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Bonus: Previous accounting experience within a hospitality environment (hotel, resort, restaurant), experience with Food & Beverage cashiering or hospitality accounting/property-management systems, or an Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or Hospitality Management.
