Technical Accounting & Controlling Intern | Autoliv

The Tone:
This is an internship at Autoliv, located in Auburn Hills, MI. Autoliv’s primary goal is to save more lives by developing and manufacturing vehicle safety products such as seatbelts, airbags, and steering wheels. This role is crucial for ensuring the accurate preparation of financial information and supporting sound operational and cross-functional decision-making, directly contributing to the company’s commitment to uncompromising quality in its life-saving products.

The TL;DR
• Role: Internship
• Location: In-person, Auburn Hills, MI

• Mission: Support accurate financial reporting, technical accounting compliance, and data-driven decision-making to uphold the quality of life-saving automotive safety products.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Financial Reporting: Support the preparation of financial information in accordance with US GAAP and Company policy.
• Month-End Close Execution: Execute month-end close controlling activities and support management reporting.
• Technical Accounting Support: Support plant controllers in month-end close reporting activities and technical accounting inquiries in accordance with Company policy and US GAAP.
• Financial and Technical Analysis: Assist with financial analyses and perform technical accounting analyses.
• Documentation and Improvement: Draft technical accounting memos and position papers for Controller review and approval, and assist the Divisional Controller to roll out initiatives that improve month-end close.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level, working towards a Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting.
• Experience: No specific prior professional experience required; a foundational understanding of finance or accounting principles is essential.
• Skills: Strong written and verbal communication, attention-to-detail, time management and prioritization, critical thinking prowess, and technical accounting quality.
• Bonus: Spanish proficiency.
